When Cheng Yule first met Xie Jinxing, she had no idea he would change the course of her life.
She was the kind of person who habitually hid inside her shell. She didn't talk about failing an interview, being under pressure, or feeling wronged. She thought bearing everything alone was mature, and that not bothering others was a sign of growing up. That was, until she met him.
When she broke down, he would lay down three house rules for her over a video call. When her eyes were swollen from crying, he would make her kneel and read the rules aloud, his face stern. He would drive hundreds of miles just to bring her back himself after she blocked him yet again.
He had plenty of rules. She mustn't hide her emotions, make decisions on her own, or let him lose track of her.
This is a story about rules and freedom, punishment and redemption. It's also a story about two people afraid of losing each other, and how they learn to trust one another through pain and embraces.
“You can be selfish with me,” he said.
“What about you, big brother?” she asked.
“Big brother only wants you.”
