Reborn in 1981: Hunting in the Greater Khingan Mountains

At sixty-three, Li Tianqin lay on the earthen kang at his sister's home, thinking back over his life: at eighteen, he hunted in the mountains; at twenty, he became a technician at a logging camp; at thirty, he made a fortune smuggling ginseng into the Russian Empire; at forty, he was ruined by a setup. In the end, he had to rely on his sisters to get by. He thought his life was over.

When he opened his eyes again, it was late autumn of 1981.

In the woods behind Shaozitun, his childhood friend Liu Rui was holding a sharpened birch pole, foolishly preparing to take on a half-grown wild boar head-on. In his previous life, they had both been tossed to the ground by the boar and had fled in disgrace. Now, forty-five years of experience in the mountains and forests were etched into Li Tianqin's bones. He said just three words: "Climb a tree."

One hunting knife, two hunting dogs, and a dozen or so exchanges. The moment the boar crashed to the ground, Li Tianqin knew this life would be different.

The mountains were the same, and the people were the same. His mother was still alive. She would scold him for "not caring if he lived or died," but secretly save him some meat. His father was still strong, and for the first time, his rough hands poured him a cup of liquor. His younger brother, Erbao, was still the same kid with a mouth full of meat and a carefree grin. And Liu Jingru, the girl with two long braids who blushed whenever she saw him, was someone he would never let go of again.

Hunt in the mountains, train dogs and practice shooting, protect his family, and marry his childhood sweetheart.

In this life, the entire Greater Khingan Range would be his hunting ground.
