The Lazy, Greedy Young Daughter-in-Law in a Period Novel

Ruan Yuzhen was the Red River Bay Brigade’s most notorious lazy girl: she was useless at everything and ate more than her share. Luckily, she was blessed with good fortune. Her parents treated her like a treasure, and her three older brothers were used to spoiling their “little princess.” Her sisters-in-law had been talked into turning a blind eye. After all, the girl looked blessed with good fortune and was much loved by the elders. But the womenfolk were even more worried than the Ruan family about her prospects for marriage. Afraid this “big headache” might end up in their own families, they eagerly went to the neighboring brigade to find her a match. But fate had other plans: the girl stayed right there in the Red River Bay Brigade. She became the wife of Lu Yuejin, the brigade leader’s youngest son. And so the Lu family began a life of bickering and chaos, with everything turned upside down.
