Barefoot Miracle Doctor, 1955: Waking Up in a Widow's Home

[Hunting + Multiple Love Interests + Divine Healer]

Qin Mu, a modern doctor of traditional Chinese medicine and outdoor survival expert, opens his eyes to find himself in 1955, inhabiting the body of a notorious, sickly young wastrel in a mountain village in Northeast China. He is stark naked in the bed of the village’s most beautiful young widow, while outside, furious villagers brandish torches and hunting rifles.

The original owner had tried to take advantage of her, only to die of excitement and leave Qin Mu to deal with the mess.

Faced with villagers threatening to drown him in a pond, Qin Mu stays perfectly calm. He takes his time getting dressed, then announces that the young widow is not an immoral woman at all. She suffers from severe uterine cold, and he was treating her with acupuncture.

He casually grabs a fire poker from behind the door and taps several ringleaders so fast it is impossible to follow with the naked eye. They collapse to the ground at once, howling in pain.

“I’m Qin Mu. I know a little medicine and a little martial arts. Anyone who dares say another word about what happened today can spend the rest of his life finding out what paralysis feels like.”

The whole village is stunned! When did that weakling who couldn’t hurt a fly become so terrifying?

And there’s more to come. Qin Mu not only cures the young widow’s chronic illness with a few wild herbs, winning her devotion, but also dares to venture deep into the mountains with nothing but a battered hunting rifle.

Other people risk their lives going into the mountains. He strolls through them as if he were in his own backyard. He has a secret, too: a storage space that lets him bring back a huge haul of game without anyone noticing.

The beautiful young widow, the sweet and innocent educated youth he rescues from a bear, the village chief’s unruly daughter, who both respects and fears him… In an era when human lives are worth no more than weeds, Qin Mu uses his medical skills to save people, and to kill them…
