Lin Yuan is 24, unemployed, and has one great passion in life: lying in the yard and fishing, even though he never catches anything.
Then one day, a “Galactic Fishing System” speaks inside his head. The pond is the same, and so is the fishing rod, but the things he reels in have changed: black tech, healing potions, cultivation manuals, alchemy recipes… even talking potted plants and alien jellyfish.
Lin Yuan’s reaction is calm: he turns everything over to the government in exchange for the rank of major, and gets the country to assign him a female liaison officer who knows how to cook braised fish. From then on, he lies around fishing while the country turns his catches into reality: an energy revolution, cultivation for all, interstellar trade, fishing in the void…
When alien civilizations send inquiries, the First Empire of the Milky Way sends an invitation, and the Andromeda Galaxy comes from afar seeking help, Lin Yuan is still lying on the rattan chair by the pond, his face covered by a straw hat, with a group of spirit beasts at his feet.
Someone asks him, “You saved the galaxy. Why are you still fishing here?”
He rolls over and mutters, “Tomorrow. My arm’s sore.”
This is a story about laziness, fishing, and saving the world. The sea of stars is boundless, and the fishing rod is forever cast.
It looks okay so far, quite bland.
