Funeral Home Intern with Yin Eyes: Life in the Midnight Spirit Market

Lin Hai, an intern in funeral services, was born with Yin Eyes. He can see the evil spirits that ordinary people go out of their way to avoid, but he never imagined that the funeral home at midnight would be the entrance to the Underworld Market. The Underworld Market forcibly chooses him to become a night watchman. He has no overpowered golden finger and no System to give him an unfair advantage. His only support is the funeral customs and taboo symbols etched into his bones. Paper figures brought to life with a dab of paint at a paper effigy shop and sent to claim their makers’ lives, an eternal lamp that never goes out in the morgue, the eerie procession of corpse drivers in western Hunan, the anguished cries of the dead at the King Boat Festival in southern Fujian… Every folk-custom dungeon is a gamble with death, and every escape costs him years of his life. A greedy last-generation corpse keeper, a morally chaotic Lady of the Red Lantern, and a levelheaded forensic pathologist partner help him navigate layer upon layer of mysteries. But he discovers that the rot in the Underworld Market has long since spread into the human world, and that his incomplete soul is the only key to sealing an ancient Yin God. With folk customs as my blade and my lifespan as fuel, I will guard the boundary between Yin and Yang and redeem the souls of the unjustly dead. This time, I’ll protect the dawn of the human world, and my own life as well.
