In 2050, the Antarctic ice sheet melted completely, sending global sea levels soaring. Nine-tenths of the land was submerged, and human civilization sank into an endless watery wasteland. Amid half a year of relentless rain, Ye Zhou, a young man from the lower classes, fled to a remote mountain island. He survived by growing potatoes, waiting to die amid hunger and despair.
He thought fishing might offer him a slim chance of survival, but bloodthirsty, savage fish monsters burst from beneath the water. At the brink of death, Ye Zhou fought back with everything he had, accidentally activating the Combat System and awakening a lightning-based ability. He unlocked the Lightning Fist skill, and his strength, speed, and stamina all awakened.
Lightning coursed through the water, killing swarms of monsters in an instant. Slaying monsters let him absorb energy and grow stronger. Once content to live quietly on potatoes until he died of old age, he now wielded the power of thunder. In an apocalypse of endless seas and rampant monsters, a lone boat and lightning for a blade: he would carve out his own path to survival in a sunken world.
