The Cool-Headed Minister Lies in Bed, While the Yandere Princess Craves Him Night After Night

[Strong heroine + forced romance + complementary constitutions + aloof beauty brought down from her pedestal + pregnancy and flight]

Princess Li Minghuang wields power over the court, yet suffers nightly torment from a strange poison that can only be eased by a man's pure Yang energy. On the day her male consorts are selected, the matrons use silver needles to examine their bones and probe their acupuncture points, stripping them of all dignity. Xie Qinghan, a junior official at the Court of Judicial Review, offers his name card to save his entire family, who have been imprisoned.

Inside the red gauze curtains, she lifts his chin with a gold hairpin. “Lord Xie, with a constitution suited to being my medicine, you'll be at my service for the rest of your life.”

He endures her attentions in silence, all for a secret imperial edict left by the late emperor and a chance to clear his family's name.

By day, she dominates the court while he wears his gold insignia and suffers the scorn of others. At midnight, when her cold poison flares up, he gives his all, sharing his warmth with her skin to skin. Just as they begin to fall in love, she learns that being a human remedy will shorten his life. And then she discovers she's carrying his child. The princess leaves him a divorce letter and flees to the frontier, pregnant.

The once aloof, celestial man is driven to desperation. He topples half the Great Yan Empire and corners her at the foot of the city wall. “Your Highness, my life is yours, and so is the realm.”
