Light Behind the Door: Three Years Searching for the Truth in a Haunted House

In the Yong'an residential compound, where the rainy season drags on and on, stands a thirty-year-old building the city has forgotten. It conceals a grievance that has gone unavenged for three years, as well as the quiet resolve of a group of longtime neighbors. Lin Wan, an amnesiac illustrator seeking a peaceful life, rents a room in a notorious sixth-floor apartment at a low price. Her roommate, Su Mo, is so gentle it's almost eerie. Knocks at the door in the middle of the night, a childhood hairpin that vanishes and reappears, a copper bookmark that materializes out of nowhere: one strange incident after another pushes Lin Wan to the brink of collapse. She thinks she's encountered something supernatural, unaware that it's all part of a gentle “memory-awakening plan.”

The roommate before her isn't the deceased, but her twin sister, Su Qing. The stern security guard, Chen Yu, is the dead girl's younger brother. And the seemingly gossipy landlady, Sister Zhang, was a witness all those years ago. In Jiangcheng's old town, a grassroots public-interest group called Shouxu Pavilion has come together of its own accord. It has no authority and imposes no punishments; it relies solely on the bonds between neighbors to gather clues and protect witnesses, all to win justice for Su Mo, a kind young woman who was brutally murdered. The villain, Zhao Kun, has lain low for three years, pretending to be simple and honest as he waits for a chance to silence the witnesses. Lin Wan's amnesia, Su Qing's disguise, and Chen Yu's long vigil are all part of this struggle of human nature.

There are no ghosts or supernatural forces, no overpowered cheat, only the tension between obsession and redemption. When buried memories break through the surface and hard evidence emerges, this three-year vigil finally sees a glimmer of hope. Behind the door is no evil spirit, but unspoken guilt, protection at any cost, and the most sincere sense of justice among ordinary people. In the end, those quiet acts of kindness will pierce the darkness and bring true peace to the Yong'an residential compound.
