The Begonias Wait in Vain for Their Beloved's Return

A warlord’s daughter falls in love with a poor carpenter. He plants begonias everywhere for her and promises her a peaceful life. But a cruel scheme leaves him with a broken leg and blinded eyes. After half a lifetime apart, they meet again. He is a blind beggar on the street. She stays by his side, but just two days later, he dies smiling in her arms. “I am like a mayfly, born at dawn and dead by dusk. To have loved you once is enough.”
