Korean Battlefield: I Am a Volunteer Soldier

In 1950, war spread across Korea, and the Yalu River was under threat.

Lin Xiaoman, a farm boy, bid farewell to his home and family, put on a uniform worn pale from washing, and joined the Chinese People's Volunteers.

He had been a timid recruit, afraid of the dark, pain, and gunfire, and hoping only for a quiet life. But the moment he set foot in Korea, the ruins and displaced civilians made him understand the weight of the words “defend our homeland and protect our country.”

There was Zhao Tiechui, a battle-hardened company commander; Chen, a frail-looking yet resolute political instructor; Wang Daniu, a taciturn sharpshooter; a kindhearted veteran squad leader from the cooks' unit; and Gouzi, a comrade who would live and die by his side. In the bitter cold and smoke of battle, these ordinary Chinese people took on an extraordinary mission.

From the ice and snow of Lake Changjin to the tunnels of Shangganling and the bloody battle for Yunshan City, he faced every deadly fight, growing from a green, naive youth into a battle-hardened veteran.

Heroes aren't born. They're ordinary people who step forward when it matters.

This is the coming-of-age epic of an ordinary Volunteer soldier, and a memory of home and country that must never be forgotten:

The green hills hold our loyal dead, and the land remembers their noble spirits. It is up to us to grow strong.
