My Elder Sister and I Married on the Same Day, but I Entered the Wrong Bridal Chamber

[Marriage first, love later + mistaken marriage + a husband’s desperate pursuit of his wife + two couples]

She makes three wishes before the Buddha: First, may her family live in harmony and all go well. Second, may all the troublemakers stay away. The first name on that list is Xiao Yanzhi. Third, may she marry her ideal husband: handsome, wealthy, no concubines, and devoted to her for life.

But after she makes her wishes, that “troublemaker” emerges from behind the Buddha, his face cold. “I’ll call off this engagement.”

Later, she and her sister are married on the same day, and by a twist of fate, she ends up in his bridal chamber. On their wedding night, he is drugged. In his frenzy, he touches the birthmark on her waist and freezes.

How can it be her?

She thinks he’ll divorce her, but instead he starts serving her food every day, bringing her brown sugar and ginger tea, and standing up for her in public when she’s bullied. “My wife injured her hand recently, so she can’t play the zither.”

She puts on a stubborn front. “The ginger tea tastes awful. Don’t bring it again.”

He glances at the empty bowl, the corner of his mouth twitching. If it tastes awful, why did she finish it?

Only later does she learn that the man who said he would call off the engagement had already taken all her wishes to heart.
