An Unexpected Trip to a Village of Women

After his girlfriend dumps him, photographer Chen Xiangbei heads to a remote Miao village known as “Women’s Village” to heal and take photographs. Surrounded by mountains on three sides and cut off from the outside world, the village is home mostly to women whose husbands have left to work elsewhere. He only meant to photograph the scenery, but accidentally gets caught up in a clan dispute at the widow A Yuepo’s home. He uncovers the grotesque arranged marriage the family has planned for the village beauty, A Jiao, and even discovers that the truth behind his own abandonment is hidden in the village’s century-old secret.
