When Shen Mingshu turned twenty-five, her father brought home the son and daughter who had been living away from home for over twenty years. The once-glamorous only daughter of the Shen family suddenly became the subject of gossip around town.
That same month, Shen Mingshu attended Shengyuan Group’s annual gala with Guan Shiyun, the future head of the influential Guan family in the capital. The two announced the happy news that they would marry after the New Year.
The announcement sent shock waves through their social circle. Some said Shen Mingshu would stoop to anything, even selling herself, for power and status. Others called her a role model for women, amazed that she had managed to win over the arrogant Guan Shiyun.
Their marriage really was based solely on mutual interests, with no love between them.
But later, the childhood friend who had lived next door to Shen Mingshu returned from overseas and proposed to her, throwing caution to the wind.
Guan Shiyun, who had been listening from behind the door, appeared with a cold laugh. He wrapped one arm around Shen Mingshu’s slender waist and said disdainfully, “Young Master Zhou, Mingshu is my wife now. Please show some respect.”
That night, for the first time, Guan Shiyun lost control. He pressed close to Shen Mingshu’s ear and pleaded for an answer.
“Do you like him, or do you like me?”

Who would have thought that Guan Shiyun, once so arrogant and proud, would become a devoted puppy at his wife’s command after they married?
