Golden Eyes: Midlife Crisis, Comeback Through Stone Gambling

[Midlife crisis + wife who dotes on her younger brother + laid off in middle age + wife who doesn't understand + comeback through stone gambling + turning life around in middle age + finally holding his head high + middle-aged men rise up] Li Dashan discovers that his wife used all their household savings to help her younger brother with a down payment on a house. When he demands an explanation, she snaps back at him. "My brother wants to buy a house, and he was still 200,000 yuan short on the down payment. I chipped in 128,000. He's my own brother. I couldn't just watch him rent a place in the city, could I?" Li Dashan hears a ringing in his ears. "That was eight years of savings for the two of us!" His voice rises a little. "Our son has his college entrance exams next year. There's tutoring, tuition..." "Why are you yelling?" Liu Guifang's face darkens. "Li Dashan, you're just a gate guard, earning a pittance every month. If I weren't helping out, we couldn't make ends meet! I used the money I earned to buy my brother a house. So what? If you're so capable, go earn some yourself!" "That's our joint property..." "Joint property, my foot!" Liu Guifang yanks off her scarf and throws it onto the sofa. "Li Dashan, open your eyes and look at yourself. You're forty-five, guarding a construction site, earning 3,800 yuan a month! At least my brother works in real estate and makes eight or ten thousand a month. He might even be able to help our family in the future. What can you do besides drag us down?"
