His Moonlight Is a Courtesan

Everyone in the capital knows that Wanan, the star courtesan of Tianxiang House, is a remarkable woman: A song worth a fortune, a smile that could topple a city. Nobles and aristocrats pile up mountains of gold and silver just for a chance to see her. Everyone in the martial world knows that “Manzhushahua,” the number-one assassin, is a ruthless one: She never misses, and no one has ever seen her true face. After every kill, she leaves behind only a blood-red flower imprint. No one knows they’re the same person. Until the day Shen Mozhu, the newly appointed head of the guards, steps into Tianxiang House. Watching the peerless courtesan play the qin onstage, he says coldly, “Your music reminds me of someone.” Wanan’s fingers tremble, but her smile never falters. “Oh? And who might this old acquaintance be?” He fixes his gaze on her and speaks one word at a time: “Someone I’ve been searching for for five years.” “Someone I should kill.” “Someone…” “I can’t forget.” Only later does he learn that the person he’s searching for, the person he’s supposed to kill, the person he can’t forget, is the only person he has ever loved.
