Border Enforcer

Wunan City is shrouded in gray fog all year round. A boundary of gray fog, where time runs amok and strange incidents abound, splits the city in two: the conservative old Ming-and-Qing-era district and the bustling modern tech district. On one side are folk taboos etched into people's bones, where incense and evil spirits coexist. On the other are the cold, unforgiving rules of modern technology, where algorithms control everything. Li Zhu, a researcher of folk taboos, sets out to protect taboo-related cultural relics and historic sites, preserving the tradition passed down by his ancestors. Meanwhile, the mysterious organization known as the Rule Enforcers seeks to use technological rules to abolish folk taboos entirely and seize control of Wunan City's taboo core. The fierce clash between taboos and rules plays out again and again in a series of bizarre cases. As traditional taboos become a lifeline and technological rules turn into invisible shackles, humanity is repeatedly pulled between good and evil. Every choice is a matter of life and death, and every contest raises the same question: Are rules a shield that protects all beings, or a cage that imprisons human nature? The fate of Wunan City will ultimately be decided by human choices, leading it toward an unknown end.
