A Sweetheart's Summer Contract

He was a cold-blooded legend in the world of finance. After witnessing his mother jump to her death at fifteen, he never let anyone into his heart again. She was an up-and-coming photographer, bright and vivacious on the surface, but with a ticking time bomb inside her: bipolar disorder. The night her mother died in the bathtub, her childhood drowned with her. A business marriage in which each stood to gain what they needed. The two signed a pact with three rules: Don’t pry. Don’t expect anything. Don’t fall in love. Until she had an episode and curled up in the corner of the darkroom. He burst through the door and held her trembling body for the first time. Until, at her engagement party, she told someone else, “I do.” He rushed in and roared in front of everyone, “She’s the woman I love!” They both thought they were saving each other, never realizing that She was his sunshine, and his deepest fear. He was her safe harbor, but he might also become the final straw that breaks her. As family schemes, business attacks, and mental illness erupt one after another, two wounded souls must stake everything on finding an answer in each other: Is love a form of salvation, or just another path to destruction? It began with a contract and ended etched into their bones. This time, I’m betting you’ll be my summer that never fades.
