The Sunken Boat and the Raven

[An Immortal Guardian of National Treasures]+ [Espionage, Suspense, and Angsty Romance]+ [A Tearjerker About Love of Country]

I have lived for a very long time, long enough to see the people of an entire era pass away.

In 1944, my master handed me a secret letter and told me to find “Raven.” From then on, my life had only two purposes: deliver the letter and stay alive.

I met her in the snowbound forests. She called me a man of few words, took a bullet for me, and died in my arms. I thought she was the only warmth I would ever know, until thirty-five years later, when I saw her photograph in a foreign land.

In those years, I crossed the Gobi, slipped into Hong Kong, pursued traffickers in cultural relics, and stood guard over the murals of Dunhuang. I have watched so many people die, but they all live on in my heart.

They call me a living archive, a monument that walks. But all I want is to see this new China on behalf of those who never lived to see the dawn.

Sixty years of devotion, all for a secret letter that could never be delivered.
