I Turned Out to Be the Scumbag's Own Moonlight Stand-In

[White Moonlight] + [Angsty Romance]

The candles were still burning on our seventh anniversary when he brought home a young woman with amnesia, his eyes red as he begged me to help.

I smiled and agreed, then turned away and swallowed a painkiller.

From then on, I personally coached him:

“She likes to hear this song before bed.”

“When she’s hurt, hold her like this.”

“When she says she loves you, make your gaze three shades more tender.”

The day he fell for her completely, I closed my medical file and prepared to leave.

But he blocked the doorway. “Why does she even bite her lip when she’s shy, just like you?”

I looked at the face behind him, so much like my own, and laughed softly.

“Because from beginning to end, all you’ve ever loved is my shadow.”
