Shui Mo: Still Waters Stirred by Her After Ten Thousand Years

[Under Contract] The first time they met by Jing Shui Lake, he called her “a human girl.” Shui Qingli had lived for tens of thousands of years and seen countless immortals come into being and fade away. Nothing could hold his interest. Yan Jue said he was like a pool of stagnant water, and he didn't argue. So be it. Better stagnant water than the rushing currents of those who spent every day fighting among themselves. Then he met that human girl. She was timid and tearful, always clumsy, and her pastries came out crooked. A few steps were enough to leave her gasping for breath. Yet when her smile fell into his eyes, it was like a pebble dropped into a deep pool untouched for ten thousand years: ripples spread, never to fade. He couldn't remember when he began standing alone on the shore after she left, gazing toward the mountain path for an entire day. He couldn't remember when he began to feel something sink inside him whenever she mentioned someone else's name. He couldn't remember when he began wanting to touch her, wait for her, and make her look only at him. Yan Jue said, “You've fallen for her.” Love? He didn't understand what love was. He only knew that when she wanted to see him, he had to be there. He only knew that when she was in danger, his hand moved before his heart did. He only knew that when she cried, he wanted to hide her away somewhere only he could see. This is a story about restraint. A story about an immortal who has lived for tens of thousands of years learning to love a human who can live for only a hundred. He hides every emotion, daring only to let his eyes reveal the surging depths of his heart when she cannot see. Until one day, he finally understands: Some people, once you meet them, are impossible to let go.
