Water and Ink: The Moon Sinking Beneath Deep Waters

[Contracted] (Primarily Shui Mo; no breaking up canon couples. Includes original elements. The heroine has a hidden identity. Not recommended for readers who like to overthink.) The day the gates to the Forbidden Land opened again, Shui Qingli gave up his position of his own accord to save Wang Mo, donning the second-rank black robe once more. But what he brought back to the fairy realm was not just a promise to a human girl. It was also a past he had deliberately forgotten, recovered from the lowest level of the Floating Cloud Tower. Wang Mo thought that if she waited for him to return and keep his promise, everything could go back to the way it was. But she didn’t know that from the moment Shui Qingli stepped out of the Floating Cloud Tower, some things could never be the same again. Now whole, he remembered every loss of the past thousand years. He remembered how he had gone from Shi Wang’s right-hand man to a saint-level immortal who sought peace by the Pure Water Lake. And he remembered that the human girl who had once made him willingly tear his soul apart had never been just Wang Mo. When Yin Chen’s dust settled on the human world, when Lady Wei’s parasitic vines climbed onto Loli’s golden bones, when Shi Wang’s fingers pierced Xin Ling’s seal and pointed toward the azure Blue Star where he had once been born, Wang Mo realized she had been drawn into something far more than a war to protect the fairy realm. And Shui Qingli stood before her, his black robe billowing, a thousand years of dark currents stirring in his eyes. He could fight the entire Forbidden Land for her. But there was one thing he could never tolerate: someone else in her eyes.
