The Red Thread’s Tribulation: A Millennium of Waiting Just for You

Armor on my body,

I see my past and present lives.

The sins of my past life

made me miss my chance at love in this one.

On the battlefield, there are no tender smiles,

only sorrow and lament in the struggle to survive.

There are no vows of sweet romance,

only merciless war and bodies strewn across the field.

I searched every corner of the barren wasteland,

but could not find the face that made my heart ache.

Bai: The wind howls, and memories turn bleak.

The brave depart, never to return.

They lay down their lives, yet none mourn them.

They spill their blood, but love passes them by.

Armor stripped from my body,

I understand my past and present lives.

The passion of my past life

made me love no one in this one.

In the vast night sky, not a star shines bright,

only heart-rending longing remains.

There is no promise of forever,

only a lonely pillow and sorrow that keeps me awake.

I searched through the city's dark nights,

but could not find the bond I still remember.

Bai: The moon is hazy, the lights glow bright.

My beloved left, never to return.

I yearn in vain, with heaven and earth between us.

My heart is shattered, and I cannot sleep.

Perhaps the long sword in my hand

severed the red thread held by the Matchmaker,

leaving it unable to bind us together.
