This story is told in the style of a short drama. The Taiyi Immortal and a young Taoist attendant descend to the mortal world. With authorization from the Celestial Court’s Human Resources Department, they publicly announce the lifetime merits of mortals who have accumulated good karma. The men then ride white horses, while the women ride cranes, soaring to the blissful realm to fill vacant immortal posts.
Evil people, on the other hand, are handled by the Judge, who signs for them on behalf of the King of Hell, and then dispatched by the Black and White Impermanence.
When the Judge drinks too much, he often sends good people to the Gates of Hell by mistake. The young attendant sees rescue notices sent by the Celestial Court’s Human Resources Department and reports them to the Daoist Master Taiyi. The two often have to hurry to the Gates of Hell to verify identities and save people. This naturally leads to clashes with the Black and White Impermanence.
