When the protagonist, Erxi, was in fifth grade, she secretly read her mother's last letter. Erxi decided to leave school and turn the barren mountains into orchards and green spaces, leading the villagers toward prosperity. Through many twists and turns, working up a sweat and shedding tears, she eventually transformed the area around Xiangyang Village into a green industry hub, and the people began living happy lives.
In her later years, Erxi went with her family to visit her mother's and maternal grandfather's graves and comfort their spirits: “The motherland is prosperous, and the people are living happy lives. Rest in peace!”
