A Poverty-Relief Official Builds Infrastructure in Great Qin

The book’s original title is: My Job Is Poverty Alleviation, Yet I Helped the First Emperor Unify the World. It was too long to use as a title. This is a different take on the Qin dynasty. I’m fond of the Qin, so I’ve chosen it as the setting to express some of my thoughts. Whether in the present or in ancient times, I hope someone like this could appear and change things for the better. Zhang Yuan, deputy director of the county poverty alleviation office, was caught in a flash flood while delivering relief supplies to the countryside. When he woke up, he found himself in the Qin dynasty. Faced with the vast, sparsely populated land and the differences in local dialects, he mistook the place for some mysterious “deep poverty village” in his own country. Determined to use modern poverty-relief experience to help “extremely poor household” Ying Zheng grow rich, he ends up unknowingly driving a technological leap and worldwide expansion across the entire Qin empire.
