Yagami Light was dead.
At the final moment in his original world, he neither went to heaven nor descended into hell. Instead, he opened his eyes in a morgue on a parallel-world Blue Star.
There were no shinigami in this world, no Death Note, and no supernatural powers of any kind.
Until he reached out and found the black notebook lying quietly beside his pillow.
Death Note
Divine Realm: Judgment World
Livestream System: The Hour of Judgment
And so Blue Star gained a livestream that could never be shut down.
On the first night, it drew over a million viewers.
By the end of the first week, that number had passed a hundred million.
A month later, the whole world was asking the same question:
“Who will be judged next?”
Victims' families knelt before their screens, weeping as they said thank you.
A human rights lawyer denounced the broadcast on television, only to have his own wrongful conviction from twenty years ago livestreamed that night.
A certain country's president had just condemned “the terrorist Kira” at the UN General Assembly. Two hours later, the livestream title changed: “Tonight's Judgment: Three War Criminals from That Country.”
Supporters formed a cult and chanted, “He is a god.”
Opponents marched with signs reading, “Who gave him the right?”
The state apparatus split between those seeking to hunt him down and those seeking to cooperate. When special forces broke in, they found only a livestream screen bearing the words:
“You're fired.”
Yagami Light never showed his face, not once.
In the gray-white Divine Realm, he sat upon the throne at its highest point, looking down on the criminals who had once escaped justice as they endured tailor-made hells over and over again.
Sometimes, he glanced at the comments.
Sometimes, he spoke a single sentence:
This isn't killing.
This is a livestream.
This is judgment.
This is the night a new god is born.
Before reading Chapter 15, I thought it was pretty good. In this book, Kami is a real god. The system helps him obtain some information about sinners, and then he is responsible for the trial. He also handles some opponents well, but there will not be the top-notch wits of the original work. Kami's character is also more calm.
Awesome class. [You taste carefully] It's okay so far.
