Willow Catkins Couldn't Match a Young Heart

At seventeen, as willow catkins drifted through the air, Jiang Che said, “When the catkins fly again, I have something to tell you.”

But later, he gave up his guaranteed admission, burned the poetry collection he had never sent, and vanished from Xu Mian's world.

Seven years later, they meet again. The willow catkins are still drifting.

He says, “I've loved you since I was six. Every day, from then until I was seventeen, I loved you more than the day before.”

She replies, “I know. I've always known.”

Some love isn't meant to bring two people together.

It is meant to prove

that we once wanted so earnestly to walk side by side to the faraway place where the willow catkins finally stopped drifting.

Even if, in the end, all that remains is a confession seven years too late, and a spring snow that never melts.
