When the Daylilies Bloom: Wang Yuxuan

In the final years of the Great Zhou dynasty, the foolish last emperor listens to slander and orders the entire family of the great general Wang Jieyu put to death. Wang Yuxuan, his eldest legitimate daughter, escapes this fate only because she is out with a friend. After avenging her family and successfully assassinating the last emperor, she takes her own life.

When she opens her eyes again, she finds herself in a new dynasty. After receiving her memories, she learns that she has been reborn in a country called the Republic of China. Her memories returned after she fainted during a difficult labor. Her name is still Wang Yuxuan, and she comes from a family of traditional martial artists. Her father joined the revolution and has been missing for many years. Her mother died after giving birth to her eldest son. After the War of Resistance Against Japan began, her husband, Liu Bingzhong, joined the Communist Party. When the war ended, he came home once to attend their eldest son Liu Zheng's wedding, then disappeared again. Who would have thought that a few months later, she would discover she was pregnant once more? She had a difficult labor at an advanced age and gave birth to a younger daughter. That was when the memories of her past life returned. Her eldest son also joined the revolutionary forces after getting married, and her daughter-in-law Qiuyue gave birth at the same time as she did. Qiuyue is an orphan whose origins are unknown, whom Wang Yuxuan once rescued. She is clearly educated and well-mannered, treats Wang Yuxuan with great respect, and is kind to her two younger brothers-in-law.

The story begins in April 1949. Laizhou, Shandong, has already been liberated. Wang Yuxuan has risen from guerrilla commander to county party secretary, while the unit her eldest son joined has taken part in the Huaihai Campaign and he has just returned home. But who could have guessed that he would ask for a divorce from his wife? Furious, Wang Yuxuan gives him a beating and rushes to the army, where she runs into her husband. He has now become a division commander, and a young nurse is pestering him.
