The Civil Affairs Bureau: Long-Lived Species

My name is Feng Chen. At forty, a troubled marriage left me mired in depression. Just as I was about to take my own life, I met Wu Mian, who gave me an elixir of immortality. From then on, I possessed an undying body. Wu Mian later gave me a seed as well, challenging me to compete with Shen La, who had received a seed a century earlier, to see who could refine it faster. Once the seed entered my body, I opened up my eight extraordinary meridians. In secret, I also used it to create an inner space where one year equaled a single day in the outside world. I devoted myself to refining it there, but Wu Mian still sensed what I was doing. Later, I joined the Bureau of Civil Affairs as deputy director of the Sixth Office, becoming a guardian of the human world as an immortal.

I followed Wu Mian to Changbai Mountain, where I faced three deadly trials: the Zhang family's tomb guardians, an army of blood corpses, and the guardians of the bronze gate. In the end, I uncovered the ultimate truth behind the seal on the extraterrestrial fiends beyond the gate. When the fiends' vanguard arrived, Wu Mian and I fought side by side, slaying the first demon god. My inner space evolved into a small world, and the seed became its source. With it, I entered the divine realm. Everyone in the Bureau of Civil Affairs learned of the world's peril. Sun Pangzi and Shen La vowed to follow me to the death, and together we formed the ultimate battle group. I also gradually uncovered the hidden gift behind my immortality: I was born to be the natural nemesis of the extraterrestrial fiends. From then on, I shouldered the duty of protecting the human world and entered a desperate struggle against the fiends.
