Loving You Is My Only Crime and Punishment

Loving you is my only sin and punishment.

Ke Jin

Everyone in the capital’s social circles knows that Ke Jin has no interest in women and is cold and cruel.

That night at a party, some thugs cornered me in the hallway. He rescued me on a whim, but looked at me as if I were trash.

“Dressing like that and getting noticed is your own fault.”

I thanked him awkwardly, but he didn’t even look at me.

My friends all said he was impossible to deal with and warned me to stay away.

But no one knew

On my birthday, he stood outside the private room all night, burning through three cigarettes.

When I came down with a high fever, he barged into my dormitory, his eyes red with barely contained panic.

“Lin Ge, why didn’t you come to me when you got sick?”

Only later did I understand.

He didn’t hate me. He was afraid to get close.

Afraid the light would burn too brightly. Afraid he was too filthy.

But in the end, he couldn’t resist claiming me as his own.

Imprisonment. Possession. Taking everything.

He said he was an abyss, and bringing me into it would only hurt me.

But when I really turned to leave

He went mad.

His past was like a thunderclap buried for more than twenty years, exploding all at once.

The son of a drug lord, burdened with heinous crimes.

Once the darling of the heavens, now the target of everyone’s contempt.

Everyone scattered like frightened animals.

Only I stood before him and took those bloodstained hands in mine.

Ke Jin, you say loving me is a sin.

Then let the rest of your life be my sentence. How about it?
