After attaining the Dao, the Three Pure Ones perfected the cultivation system, then disappeared for a hundred thousand years in search of the cultivation methods that lay beyond it. Before leaving, the Celestial Worthy of Primordial Beginning feared that later generations might take cultivation to an extreme, so he left the world a saying: “Those within the rules may become immortals; those outside the rules are defined as demons, and demons may not enter the Dao.” The Celestial Worthy of Primordial Beginning had reached the point where his words became law, and this saying became a law of heaven and earth. That law shackled the path of cultivation for those who followed their hearts and were true to their nature. Antarctic Immortal, his eldest disciple, became obsessed with longing for his master. He entered the Dao through his obsession, but the laws of heaven and earth branded him a demon and cut off his path to cultivation. To open a path for those who followed their hearts and were true to their nature, he and Jiang Ziya devised a plan: find eight immortals driven by obsession. And so Lü Dongbin set out to find the Eight Immortals.
