After a catastrophe of unknown cause, the world’s population suffered massive losses, with fewer than one in ten surviving. After the catastrophe, all living things mutated: they grew larger and became more aggressive, and mutated creatures became the rulers of the world. This year was later designated Year One of the Great Catastrophe.
In the early days of the catastrophe, human survivors could only huddle inside fortresses and fight off attacks from mutated creatures. But the catastrophe did bring one benefit: not only did other living things mutate, but humans underwent widespread changes as well. Ordinary people began to awaken supernatural abilities. So once the mutations stabilized, human ability users gradually began venturing out of their fortresses to search for necessities and hunt mutated creatures.
So far, although the author said that the novel is about a female protagonist, the female protagonist may be too young and not feminine at all.
