Rule Horror: Going Home for the New Year

[Misunderstandings + Rules-Based Horror + Extreme Push and Pull]

On New Year's Eve, penniless Shen Sen is forced to return to the eerily rule-bound Shen Family Village to celebrate the holiday.

The relatives here don't nag you to get married, they nag you to die. The red envelopes don't contain money, they contain contracts for your life.

Faced with a house full of S-rank evil spirits looking to devour the family fortune, Shen Sen looks at the only golden finger he has: [Once a day, lies come true].

To survive until the Lantern Festival, he decides to tell an outrageous lie and pretend to be an unfathomably wealthy tycoon returning home.

When a platter of “human-heart sashimi” is served, he looks disgusted. “It's too fishy. I don't eat raw food.”

(The ghosts are horrified: He actually turned down the freshest offering. Could he be a true deity who lives on vital energy and abstains from food?)

When a ghost child demands a red envelope, he hands over a supermarket rewards card. “Here, swipe it as much as you like.”

(The ghost child trembles: This piece of paper contains the power of rules that lead to the Other Shore! It's a ticket bestowed by a god!)

When a red-clad female ghost tries to force him into marriage, he sighs. “You can't afford to keep me.”

(The female ghost is ashamed: I'm not worthy. I shouldn't have dreamed of marrying into a family of such unfathomable wealth!)
