Strange Cases of the Tang Dynasty: Though Blind, I Can Enter Dreams to Examine the Dead

The story is set during the Wu Zhou period, after the death of Di Renjie, in the shared universe of The Great Detective Di Renjie. The protagonist, Shen Wuwang, is blind. He appears to be a blind fortune-teller outside the county yamen, but in truth possesses a special ability called "Dreamwalk." By touching a dead person's belongings or corpse, he can enter fragments of their dreams from the seven days before their death and uncover the truth.

The story opens with the bizarre case of a headless woman in red. Shen Wuwang is caught up in the affair and arrested as a scapegoat. Using his Dreamwalk ability, he "sees" in prison that the real culprit isn't human, clearing his name and helping the authorities solve the case. Later, he is "taken hostage" by Ye Hongyu, a cold-blooded female assassin, and the two form an unlikely duo: a blind detective and a killer.

The main plot revolves around a conspiracy involving the elixir of immortality. Shen Wuwang investigates from a remote county town all the way to Luoyang, the divine capital. Using his dream ability, he solves sophisticated mysteries involving locked-room murders, fox spirits claiming lives, and the dead returning in borrowed bodies, ultimately uncovering the truth behind the destruction of his eyes and a shocking plot against the court.
