Awakening from the Shadows: I Became a Mercenary After Prison

Five years ago, special forces king Lin Yu was framed for murdering civilians and sent to prison.

Five years later, behind bars, he awakened a supernatural ability: he could glimpse three seconds into the future and see the signs of death.

The price was that each use shattered a piece of his memory.

The battlefield awaited him the moment he was released. A sniper’s rifle glinted in the sunlight. He twisted aside as a bullet skimmed past his ear, his movements faster than thought. This wasn’t luck. It was a survival instinct purchased with his memories.

To uncover the truth behind the frame-up, he entered the dark world of global mercenaries. A hacker tapped out code in the shadows, an eagle-eyed shooter never missed, and an angel’s scalpel could save lives or take them. Together, they formed the “Time-Space Squad,” rising through betrayal and bloodshed.

Yet every time his ability advanced, his past grew hazier. His foresight stretched from three seconds to thirty. He could stop time and even reverse life and death, but he could no longer remember his mother’s face, his comrades’ names, or where he came from.

When the mastermind, “Obsidian,” revealed the truth, Lin Yu learned that he was the sole survivor of the military’s secret “Time-Space Perception” experiment. His ability was, in essence, the power to burn through his life to glimpse time.

The ultimate choice lay before him:

Should he use up his last memories to foresee thirty seconds ahead and save the world?

Or preserve what remained of himself and watch the time war devour everything?

“They gave me the power to foresee death, but forgot to tell me the most important thing to foresee was when I would stop being myself.”
