The Gold Train of a Border Trader

The protagonist, Chen Feng, is reborn in 1987 with nothing but enormous debts and a warehouse full of unsold light-industry goods, including leather jackets and thermoses. He knows the shortages before the Soviet Union's collapse two years later will be the greatest chance to make a fortune. Alone, he boards the K3/4 train to Moscow. He must face not only the robbers aboard but also corrupt Soviet officials and ruthless mafia gangs. With no golden finger, he relies on “guts” and his ability to predict when the ruble will depreciate. From the start, he uses a few bottles of Erguotou to win over the train attendants, trading his surplus goods for Russian motorcycles and selling them at a hundredfold profit. Then he takes bigger and bigger risks, trading motorcycles for cars and eventually pulling off the legendary “canned goods for planes” deal. On the eve of the Soviet Union's collapse, he exploits the exchange rate difference to amass a fortune worth tens of billions.
