After Fleeing While Pregnant, He Became My Mad Dog

Ye Qingjian, the legitimate daughter of the second branch of the Ye family, is frail and sickly. Her betrothal is called off, and her cousin even pushes her from a tower. The fall does not claim her life. Instead, she lands in the arms of Yan Gui, the regent of the dynasty.

Yan Gui wields power over all under heaven and suffers from severe mysophobia and ten years of insomnia. Yet the moment he touches her, he feels no disgust. The faint medicinal fragrance on her instead soothes him, letting him sleep peacefully for the first time in years. Determined to keep this “living sleep aid” for himself, he threatens the future of the entire Ye family and has her carried into his manor in a small sedan chair, where she becomes his bedchamber maid.

To protect her parents and little brother, Ye Qingjian swallows her humiliation, obedient by day while secretly plotting at night with the soul and spatial domain she brought from the apocalypse. Yan Gui’s initial use of her slowly turns into possessiveness. When she becomes pregnant, he even offers to make her a secondary consort.

But Ye Qingjian is unbending to the core, a leading figure from the apocalypse. A secondary consort? No way! Dream on! With a carefully staged death, she disappears with her family to a faraway place. Seven months later, she gives birth to twins: the elder boy is as composed as she is, while the younger boy has eyes and brows just like Yan Gui’s.

For three years, Yan Gui searches for her like a madman, offering rewards across the land. He can only sleep lightly while clutching her old clothes. Meanwhile, she becomes a country doctor, treating all who come to her and raising her sons on her own, growing strong and radiant in her freedom.

They meet again when he sees her use extraordinary means to protect her children and blow up a bandit stronghold. Before the ruins, his gaze locks onto the face etched into his very bones, and the two children behind her who look so much like them both.

“Come home with me.” His voice is hoarse. This time, the powerful ruler has learned to bow his head. He cleans house for her and kneels to apologize. When her identity as a descendant of the previous dynasty puts her life in danger, he draws his sword against the entire court for her.
