The World in the Mirror: A Cornered Emperor Refuses to Die in Shame

The World in the Mirror: Zhu Mingxuan finds a broken mirror at a ghost market. That very night, he becomes the Emperor of Great Wu in the World in the Mirror.

He opens his eyes, and before he can even warm the dragon throne, a eunuch comes scrambling in, wailing: “Your Majesty! One hundred thousand enemy troops are outside the city, and the entire court… has run away!”

At the sight of the empty throne room, Lu Mingxuan’s vision goes black.

An emperor whose reign begins with certain death?!

The capital is only three hundred miles from the border, food supplies have run out, and the soldiers have no will to fight. The powerful have fled with the last of their belongings, leaving him only a besieged city doomed to fall and a rabble of soldiers who haven’t eaten in three days.

The history books will say: “The last emperor of Great Wu, Zhu Youlang, ascended the throne and died when the city fell three days later.”

To hell with the history books!

Zhu Mingxuan throws down the imperial seal, draws his sword, and mounts his horse.

If there’s no escape, then he won’t run. He’ll rule this empire himself!

He provides food, grants authority, and promotes people based on merit. With these three principles, he gathers his first band of loyal followers.

He has flintlock guns made through the night, while water-powered hammers pound away nonstop. He drags a feudal dynasty into the age of firearms ahead of its time.
