The Killer Spoiled the Plot for Me from the Start

A struggling author is kidnapped by characters who have “come to life” from his own writing and forced to use his stories to interfere with reality, fighting to survive on the boundary between fact and fiction...

Struggling author Lin Bufan receives a mysterious text from someone who turns out to be a minor character he hastily killed off three years ago. “Every killer you’ve written will come looking for you,” the message warns. Even more terrifying, the editor in his new novel is the real killer and has just invited him for coffee. The protagonist climbs off the page to investigate him in the real world. Readers’ votes can change the characters’ fates, and his own. As fiction closes in on reality, Lin Bufan discovers that his only way out is to fight back with nonstop updates, keep himself alive with subscriptions, and give every character a satisfying resolution through a million-word masterpiece, including the “one of his own” who wants him dead.
