A Breeze from the Countryside

A spiritual road movie - reading "A Breeze in the Mountains" This is a calming book. Ninety-six-year-old Qing Yue, with hair as white as snow, was shaking a cattail leaf fan in the small courtyard in eastern Henan and talking about a place called "Pulan". There were the mother washing her silk clothes under the bridge, the grudges quarreling in the downtown area, the bereaved old farmer who talked to watermelon, the general and his lover who were forever imprisoned by the city gate... Nine things, seen nine times, were strung together into a spiritual highway of "let go of the complex of helping others and complete self-cultivation". The beauty lies in the words "road movie". Qingyue is not a savior in the traditional sense. She is just a walker, walking in the blue wind and meeting those who are trapped by obsession. She listened, watched, occasionally told another story, and then waited—waited for them to see, to let go, to leave the bridge that trapped them. A Wan's epiphany was like this, and so was the reconciliation between Wang Lixiang and Li Xiangxiang. She never said "you should", she just sat next to them and let the moonlight and running water accompany them to finish crying. And she herself is changing. Every time she witnessed the dissolution of obsessions, she became a little younger - the roots of her white hair showed crow green, her stiff joints loosened, and her sleeping senses awakened. This is not a fantasy setting of rejuvenation, but a metaphor: every time you really see others, you are actually seeing yourself; every time you accompany others out of difficulties, you are cleaning the dust on your soul. Make peace with, embrace, and say goodbye to your younger self. The nine stories are independent of each other, but are connected as a whole by this hidden thread. They write about the obsessions of ordinary people: a mother who lost her child cannot let go of the blood-stained damask, a person trapped in a small town cannot let go of the phantom in the distance, an old farmer who has lost his son cannot let go of the child who failed to grow up... These obsessions are not earth-shattering, but they are so real that it makes people feel heartbroken. And Qingyue's existence is like a gentle mirror, allowing them to finally see: those things that trap them turn out to be another form of love. The best thing about this book is that it doesn't sensationalize or make sense, it just lays out the story. When reading it, you will follow Qing Yue into that land with various flavors and shapes, meet those who cannot get out, and then suddenly see yourself in a very simple sentence. "If you have also experienced unspeakable persistence, unexamined pain, or a wisp of wind from nowhere in your life - then please follow Qingyue on the journey." This sentence is true. After reading the nine stories, you will gain your own clear tranquility.

My favorite is the little green frog in "The River on the Bank" that I'm watching right now. He's a little green frog who likes rock and roll. This setting is so interesting!
