On a 1970s Island, the Rugged Officer Dotes on Me

(Period setting + joining the military on an island + everyday farming + sweet romance + misunderstandings + food + love after marriage)

Su Ruan has been reborn.

After observing three years of mourning for her mother, she follows her final wishes and heads to the capital to seek out her father and brothers, only to discover that her stepsister has stolen her identity and taken her place as her fiancé’s bride.

Her grandfather gives her two choices: stay in the capital and marry some random divorcee, or go to the island to join her older brother.

Su Ruan decisively chooses the latter!

Before leaving, she empties her biological father’s private stash, turns around and reports her stepmother, then happily boards the southbound train with a fortune in cash.

At the island’s military harbor, the sea breeze is gentle.

As soon as Su Ruan steps off the boat, she sees a tall, upright officer holding a sign that says “Su Ruan.”

Without a second thought, she flies into his arms like a baby bird returning to its nest and cries sweetly, “Big brother~”

The soft, honeyed Wu dialect leaves Gu Zheng stiff all over, his heart tingling.

Gu Zheng is picking up his comrade’s little sister. He’d heard she was “a chubby little kid who played in the mud.”

But who is this stunning beauty with fair skin and a slim waist in his arms?

Seeing the tears well up in her eyes, Gu Zheng’s Adam’s apple bobs. In a daze, he swallows the words, “You’ve got the wrong person.”

And that one swallow lasts a lifetime.

Later, Su Ruan raises chickens, grows vegetables, gathers seafood, and cooks on the island, and her life flourishes.

As for the taciturn “Living Yama” Colonel Gu, his favorite thing to do every day is come home and live off his wife (not really)!
