Pure love + mutual firsts + a guiding lover + campus romance
Su Xun, a law student who has lived in darkness since childhood, meets Lan Chongan, the eldest son of the Lan family of Shenzhen, at an academic lecture. A black notebook just like his own brings them together. From their very first meeting, they feel something special for each other. They later find the courage to love, and Lan Chongan uses his love to draw Su Xun, little by little, out of the darkness and into the sunlight, illuminating his bleak, joyless life.
They love each other bravely. They hold a wedding ceremony at Hongniang Mountain, put wedding rings on each other’s fingers, and even have their wedding photos taken against a red backdrop. Despite the Lan family’s opposition, they refuse to give up on each other. Lan Chongan lets his father beat him with a stick until three of his ribs break, all for the chance to be with Su Xun. They are only one trip abroad away from making their marriage official.
Just as they are about to begin their happy life together, Lan Chongan dies in the year he most wanted to live, and Su Xun loses his beloved in the happiest year of his life.
From then on, Lan Chongan sleeps forever, and Su Xun thinks of him forever. Years later, as Su Xun lies at death’s door, he sees Lan Chongan coming to take him away.
To meet in this life is to owe you a debt; if there is another life, may all go well for you. To meet in this life is to find happiness; if there is another life, may we meet again.
