I Walked Into the Wrong Military Wedding Room, and the Delicate Young Lady Cried That Her Legs Were Weak

Winter, 1976. The Beicheng Military District. Su Ruanruan comes from a bad background. Everyone calls her a “spoiled capitalist princess” and treats her like a public enemy. To escape being sent to the countryside for forced labor, she has no choice but to set her sights on the honest, dependable “lame clerk” in the logistics department, who is rumored to have been sidelined after an injury. She packs up everything she owns and, trembling, knocks on the red-lacquered door at the far end of the military compound. The door opens. The man who steps out isn’t lame. He’s tall and long-legged, broad-shouldered and imposing, with an aura that warns strangers to keep their distance. The stars on his shoulder boards are enough to make her eyes widen. Su Ruanruan’s legs turn to jelly. Thinking he must be the lame clerk’s fearsome superior, she resorts to the usual tricks she uses to charm men and tearfully holds out a box of Snowflake cream. “Sir, I’m looking for Clerk Zhao…” Lu Zhanye stares at the woman, whose skin is even fairer and softer than the cream. His Adam’s apple bobs as he steps aside. “Come in. Wait for me in bed.” Only later does Su Ruanruan discover that this is no lame clerk at all. He is none other than Regiment Commander Lu, the most fearsome man in the whole military district. And now there’s no getting away from him.
