During the Qingming Festival in 2025, three-year-old Cheng An'an accompanied her father, a researcher of the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, to the Pingxingguan Battle Memorial Hall in northern Shanxi. In the exhibition hall, she reached out to touch an old Eighth Route Army canteen left by her great-grandfather and donated by her father. The canteen suddenly glowed, unexpectedly opening a passage through time to September 1937 and binding her to the “Carry On the Martyrs' Wishes” System.

A live broadcast spanning 88 years went online to the awe of hundreds of millions of people as they paid tribute during the Qingming Festival.

On camera, amid the ceaseless autumn rain in the mountains of northern Shanxi and the smoke-filled mountain pass defenses, a tiny child in a little jacket printed with the word “China,” a miniature five-star red flag around her neck, clutched the beef jerky her father had given her. She stumbled over to a soldier lying in a trench, her soft voice cutting through the artillery fire: “Uncle, have some. Daddy says it'll give you strength to fight the Japanese. The home you're protecting is doing really well now!”

At that moment, the entire internet was moved to tears!

They watched the soldiers ambush the enemy with crude weapons. They watched rain soak their thin uniforms as they shivered with cold but still clutched their rifles. They watched villagers risk their lives to bring coarse grain, which the soldiers saved for the wounded. They watched the words “Defend North China, Defend the Motherland” blasted apart by artillery until only fragments remained on the battlefield.

The people of 2025 could no longer hold back!

“They protected our land with their blood. Now it's our turn to stand behind them!”

“Let's repay them! Send the martyrs a package of all the good things we enjoy in this new era!”
