Back to the Eighties: I Win Over the Cold Chief with My Cooking

From a top chef in the apocalypse to a temporary worker at a state-run restaurant in 1980, Lin Xiaoxiao has mastered molecular gastronomy, yet spends every day struggling with coal stoves and ration coupons.

Nearly fired by the old-fashioned head chef right from the start?

She uses a pot of unwanted offal to make a spectacular braised intestine dish, saving her job.

Everyone says the military district canteen is a culinary wasteland, and that even dogs won't eat its communal meals?

She shows up with nothing but her skills, scientifically calculating the exact heat and proportions until the entire regiment is howling for her red-braised pork.

“Report! Chef Lin from the mess hall is harder to deal with than enemy spies!”

“Shut up. The meat in your bowl is her cooking. Put it down!”

“...”

Then He Junfeng, the cold and iron-willed special forces captain with severe anorexia, comes looking for her.

“Eat my food, and you're mine.” She hands him a bowl of heavenly noodles.

“Fine.” He finishes it, then sets down his ration coupons and bankbook. “You can have me, too.”

From then on, she focuses on building her career, making aspic from fish scales and dishes from melon rinds, creating culinary legends in an era of scarcity.
