My name is Lin Mo. I inherited an old house and a photo album I should never have opened.
In the attic, I found a yellowed sheet of paper with a few strange rules written on it: “Look through the photos in order,” “Close the album as soon as you see red,” and “Never speak to the photographs.” At first, I thought they were just the former owner’s quirks, until I broke the first rule by skipping a page.
That night, nightmares came. To my horror, the eyes of everyone in the family portrait in the album had turned toward me, staring straight at me. The chilling sensation of being watched crept up my spine and into my skull.
I refused to believe it and broke another taboo. The woman in the red wedding dress in the photograph appeared outside my bedroom door. The old house became a maze, blood seeped from the walls, and the mirror reflected someone who wasn’t me. Every rule I broke brought them one step closer to reality.
I tried to burn the album, but only brought on an even greater disaster. The writing on the paper began to change, revealing a cruel truth: the album was a prison for vengeful spirits, and I was a descendant of the Lin family, destined to become its new “keeper.”
When the red-clad woman’s icy hand settled on my shoulder, I saw the final line on the paper: “To end this calamity, take its place. Enter the album as an image, and guard this house forever.”
It turned out that the price of survival was becoming the next photograph in the album.
A supernatural novel with a unique flavor. It's not about immortality. It's worth reading. It's a bit like a rules novel.
Very real horror
It's quite interesting. The story and plot are well connected.
