The Stand-In's Secret on Set

When second-tier actress Su Wan accepted the second female lead role in the suspense film Crime in the Mirror, she thought it was her chance to turn her career around. Instead, she was swept into a series of bizarre events. Lin Mo, her body double, who looked just like her, mysteriously disappeared from the set, leaving behind only a bloodstained prop dagger. One “accident” after another plagued the shoot: a snapped safety wire, a collapsing set, inexplicably altered lines in the script, and a shadow that kept flickering in the dressing-room mirror late at night. Everyone thought the production was haunted, but Su Wan discovered that her missing double had left behind an encrypted diary. Its entries pointed to a fatal accident on another film three years earlier, whose victim was none other than the director of Crime in the Mirror. As Su Wan investigated further, she found that she and her double were not only look-alikes: they were connected by a blood tie that someone had deliberately concealed. Everyone on set was wearing a mask. The seemingly mild-mannered director harbored a consuming desire for revenge; the leading man, who treated her with special care, knew the truth about the accident; even the agent she trusted most was secretly destroying evidence. As Su Wan pieced together the truth, she realized she had long since become the killer’s next target, and that the true “phantom” was hiding in the shadows beyond the camera’s reach.
