The Big Businessman: Sequel to the Hit Drama, The Great River Flows East

The legendary late-Qing merchant Gu Pingyuan “died of illness,” but before long he resurfaced under an assumed name: Gu Jingchuan!

This business prodigy, risen from the shadow of death, built an industrial empire that stunned his era, taking matters into his own hands as the nation faced extinction. From China's first modern port financed by private capital to a railway artery linking north and south; from the steel backbone that supported the Beiyang Fleet to the vast industries that laid the foundations of the Republic's economy. When Sun Yat-sen founded the republic, this “dead man” appeared as an industrial pioneer and joined the Father of the Nation in drawing up plans for the new country.

Yet one trial after another awaited him. When the truth about his hidden identity, concealed for half a lifetime, came to light, a trial spanning two eras pushed him to the brink. With his reputation and life hanging in the balance, petitions from a hundred thousand workers, support from students across the country, and crucial evidence brought by an old friend from thirty years ago combined to write an epic reversal in the name of justice.

The Great Businessman: The Great River Flows East is not only the final chapter of one man's legend, but also a sweeping epic about a nation seeking a way forward and shaping its future amid the upheavals of a changing age. Watch the “dead” return to life, see industry save the nation, and witness how one man's lifelong devotion lights the way to national rejuvenation.
