I Use the Supernatural to Snatch What I Want, Until My Ex Begs to Get Back Together

#If you bind a perfect lover to you, be careful: he might not be himself anymore The man I bind to me with my own hands must belong to me, body and soul. Everyone says Lu Xun has grown tired of me. I know better than anyone that it’s true, but I refuse to let go. When he casually says we should break up, I smile and agree, then go straight to the old tea master rumored to know how to bind love and lock the heart. My best friend calls me crazy. I clutch the talisman bearing Lu Xun’s birth details and can only sneer. If he’s determined to leave, he can’t blame me for using whatever means I have. I’ll have him, heart and all. After the ancient ritual is complete, the old tea master says, “He’ll come back, but he may not come back with a sincere heart.” All I need is for him to come back. His sincerity? I have all the time in the world to win it. Lu Xun does come back. With the familiar warmth I know so well, speaking softly of how he missed me, he returns to my side of his own accord. Everyone marvels at how I “weathered the storm and saw the clouds part,” but only I know my curse was hidden in the wind that night. The more tender and attentive he becomes, the colder my gaze grows. A love-binding spell can keep someone close, but it can’t create the unspoken understanding that comes with love. I never wanted an empty shell. When he shows that familiar distance again just as I’m at my most vulnerable, I don’t fall apart and torment myself like I used to. Right in front of him, I burn the talisman that served as the “medium.” As the flames flicker, I look straight into his suddenly clear eyes. “The spell is broken. Now tell me what your heart truly wants: stay or go?” He steps forward and grips my wrist tightly, his voice hoarse. “A spell? Wen Nian, you never knew… It was never the love spell that made me lose control.” I won, in my own way.
